DB2 Question

I have spent ages trying to figure out if this DB2 is special: the extra circular air intake is not on any other picture of a DB2 that I can find.

Does anyone know the car? Did it race? Is it some sort of special edition?

Is it possible that this car used to bear the reg DSK 154 and even earlier 2751 UR and JB 16?
If so, it has been like that since the fifties (albeit in red), raced in period by Jean Bloxham:

I had the pleasure of Jean and her husband Mike Salmon staying here a year or two back, and she must weight 6 stone dripping wet. How on earth she drove that, a D-type and others so well amazes me. The Jersey car club published a booklet on her exploits some years back and I have spent ages trying to locate one. Anyone got any ideas?

I think you must be correct - I was fairly sure it was a Moray Motors car.

This Jean Bloxham owned DB2 originally belonged to my father. He bought it new in 1952 I believe and had it converted into a 3 litre with triple webbers (similar to DB3S engine I believe. I believe he sold the car, not sure if direct to JB or not around 1955/6 as my eldest brother was born and he needed to get a more family car. The car was originally racing green, but I think post JB ownership was re-sprayed red (for some crazy reason). My father bought the car back in the 1970s as a wreck and rebuilt to its original condition including racing green paintwork. My father died prematurely in 1982 and unfortunately the car was sold off for a snip - I was only 19 at the time and did'nt have the wherewithall to buy it sadly.

Charlotte, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Jean repainted the car red herself, although I can't of course be sure. She campaigned a red D-type as well, this I think after the DB2 and before the DB3S she raced.
