Silverstone Classic- your highlights?

A cracking weekend, superb cars and racing, weather perfect. pricey but one of the best events of the last few yrs for me.
my own highlights :
the masters can am cars- as usual, the best bang for the money. fast, loud, great racing, proper cars.
maserati 250F- spent ten mins chatting with the very friendly owner, showed me around the car. one of the most beautiful cars of all time. sounds superb and just looks the part. being able to get upto and touch these great cars (if allowed) is part of this events attraction, no closed pits here.
brian johnson- a very nice guy, managed a quick chat about his T70 and got an autograph and a handshake. made my day :-)
all the celeb drivers were available for autographs and photos, fair play to them
Derek Bell- spotted him in a pit garage and asked if i might get his autograph, he was a gent as ever.
Ferrari F40 collection and parade- just brilliant to see so many beautiful cars in one place at the same time.
the GT cars and pre 59 era F1 cars were just fantastic, thats how racing should be.
touring cars- all the old heros on track and going for it.
car displays- all the clubs present added to a top event with their static displays. 2 full days of browsing to see it all!
site buses- loads of historic buses running round site pretty much like clockwork, well thought out and the queues were managed well. a nice touch
slight downsides=
food cost- as with all events of this nature, the traders seem to run away with prices. we took plenty of our own food n drink, but a cup of tea at £1.60, £2 coffee, £2.50 for chips, £6 for a hot dog and £6.50 for a plain cheesburger is getting mental!
traders- some of the trade stands were asking daft money for bits n bobs, but at least there was a good selection of different traders inc ones for the wife.
new silverstone layout- a bit hit n miss, lots of walking/bus action to get around and 2 seperate pits now splits the show up fully. more stands now to view from but silverstone was never the best imho for spectating anyway.
easily the best event i have been to this year so far, it seemed busy but not overly packed out or crowded, looked to be well run and well received.

for me it had to be watching the historic f1 cars emerging from the garage directly under us whilst watching from the "wing", and the group c cars at dusk.....most of the event was perfect , but i still don't understand why there was no pedestrian access to the new pits from the infield. normally we just take a wander round on foot, but it did give us a chance to have a ride on a lovely old routemaster.

yes the split pits is a weird one, when you cant just wander over to look. thankfully they managed the bus situation well and it didnt detract from it. the Group C cars are great, my ears are still ringing from all the ultra loud cars. who needs noise bans at other venues??????? :-)
