Thank you. I think the furthest mine has been is Swansea but did make it back though!I think the colour suits the car. It needs a good clean at the moment as there are oily fingerprints on the window from its MOT last week.

It depends what car you're talking about. Quite a few old british cars are covered by the heritage motor centre:

na - missing by one day is pretty bad! I have a copy of a letter my grandfather sent years ago to BMH asking for the build date but not a copy of the response. I know anecdotally that it was close.

The Riley Motor Club has a DVLA Officer to deal with this sort of problem; many other clubs offer the same help.williredale said:

it was par for the course with the car, as the whole owning experience was a complete disaster, it was the car I wanted that first got me interested in classics and it turned into a nasty life experience and very, very expensive monentary lossI got the certificate from Gaydon rang to chec k it was right, I think they might get a lot of this by their curt reply
I went into the local tax office and saw a Supervisor who couldn't help but smile (I don't blame him, I always found the people there freindly and helpful) and said they couldn't go passed the 7 days even though I explained it was after the Xmas break and how ify the records could be
I even checked later to see if the date was on a Sunday but no it was a Monday, perhaps left over from the weekend or before holiday who knows
they stopped the rolling before my 1974 car would have been eligible and I've had another 1974 car and my present car is April '73, only when I had a '69 did I get it - but the RFL is a small amount to what I spend on my daily run classics
