Does anyone know what car this is?

Not much to go on i'm afraid but just hoping one of you experts out there can tell me what car this might be.

The photo was taken around 1948/49 but I don't have any more info.

Deffo ford 8hp van . The kid looks like he's auditioning for Marlon Brando's flashback in Godfather (Cotton wool balls in cheek).

From his posture I'd say his initials were AH and in later life he grew a small moustache.

Any hints on what the giveaway is for being a Ford van?

I've never seen another van with the spare wheel on the side, which was done at the factory.Mind you, the wheels were usually pressed - steel, not wires.

Wheels mainly, plus the centre caps and the rear-hinged doors. Model Y/Ford 8 vans often had the spare wheel bolted to the door, I've seen them on both sides. Model Ys only ever had spoked wheels, never the pressed wheels of later models.

Thanks everyone, after speaking to the young lad he has confirmed that there is every chance that it is a Ford van as his father had several vans later in life, also looking at the points made I can see the resemblances. A puzzle solved, thanks again.

Nope, all Model Ys came from the factory with wire wheels. You're thinking of the later Fordson / Thames (103E style) models.
