Name that car! (please)

Wondered if anyone can help me identify the car in this picture? It was taken by my grandfather (the photo, not the car) - circa 1950-55. Many thanks in advance!

Probably wrong, but my guess is an Alvis TA14 Shooting Break.

Yeah, but the bumpers and horns make up for that.

Nice one! I've just googled it and there seem to be quite a few versions of windscreen - so I'd say you're spot on. Thanks for that.

The woodies were all built by different coachbuilders, who usually retained the bodywork back to the scuttle.Thus the differing screens and rooflines. Alvis would have supplied the chassis and front wings/bonnet.

The second one has the low roofline.

Pretty sure it's a TA21 now.

I've another one if you'd be so kind - probably taken between 1951-53. Bit more difficult I'd imagine as there's less of the car to see...

Thought it was a Jowett at first but looks to be a late 1940's Hillman Minx (mk2 Drophead).

Yep been looking at it again and I think you are right. Think its too tall for the width and I can dind no mention of a Javelin DHC.

Cheers both, didn't expect an answer so quick - I'm totally lost unless the car is post 1990! I'll mention the Minx to my dad (on the left in the photo) and see if it jogs his memory...

Its not a Jowett, it looks more like a Humber Snipe, apart from the grill bars....
