Who knows what 1940s Formula car this is?

Hi,

This car participated at the Classic Days Schloss Dyck in 2011, but was not mentioned in the program. Can anybody help me identify this formula racer? I think it is a German post-war formula car. It had an Auto Union-emblem on the nose and I found another picture of the same car described as a DKW.

I did a lot of googling, but I got stuck. I hope this is the right place to post this photo.

I'm pretty sure it's a Mitter-DKW Formula Junior c.1960, although the nose looks wrong.

Built by Gerhard Mitter for a couple of years, but already out-dated with front-engine and the "peaky" two-stroke engine. Hopelessly outclassed by Lotus and Cooper with the 105E engines.In the early years of the formula the Italians and Germans tried to replicate the F1 cars in miniature, which was the wrong way to go.

The Auto-Union badge shouldn't be there, even though the DKW marque belonged to that consortium.The bulge in the bonnet is covering the high and bulky motor. the fact that the thread-poster thought it might be a 40s racer says it all. Obsolescent before it raced.
