That lister jaguar is a fantastic looking and sounding thing! Seen it every year over the last 4 or 5 years at Oulton park gold cup. Really is one of the faves of the event.

That particular car is a Lister Chevrolet with (I think) a Chevrolet 5.7 V8 (hence the pipes exiting both sides for the V8) smile Lovely cars

Definitely a Lister Chevrolet (5.7 small block), but interestingly whats the silver car behind it, a Ginetta perhaps?

As said, a chevy smallblock engined lister knobbly - its always interesting watching the jag powered ones do battle with the yank ones!

The car behind has the enormously tall bristol engine, hence the huge bonnet bulge, but having seen it race at Oulton Park befoe i cant for the life of me remember what it was. It does look somewhat like an Elva though

ETA - some googling later and its the Lister Bristol "Flat Iron" special:

Given that the 350cu engine didn't appear until the mid 60s, it should have a 327cu or 5.3L lump. It would be cheating to put a later longer throw crank in - not that anyone would od that in historic racing.

But of course not, all owners and drivers are scrupulously honest! I mean, the Mini race at the Revival 2009 was fun, and all the cars appeared for scrutineering with the heads off to verify that 1293 did not equal 1340. No way, guv, were they forced to present the cars like that, they just all decided to do it for the best of reasons, now didn't they?

^^^ I remember when Adrian Newey was accused of using RBR resources to hone his E-type racer at Goodwood - he replied that thanks to extensive windtunnel testing the carbonfibre ground effect undertray was working brilliantly hehe

Makes me laugh how much quicker the Minis are than their original laptimes around Goodwood, clearly some Appendix K regulations allow a bit more development than others.. rolleyes

I'm sure the road surface makes quite difference too, either that on Goodwood just isn't as big as it used to be.
My laptimes in my 150 before I started to do anything to it, are remarkably close to the film on you tube of Mike Hawthorn in a 3.4 Mk1.
Now if I had 1% of Mike's ability I'd be surprised.

Not quite true, in the early 60's Duntov developed a new engine based on the 327 with a displacemnt of 377cu",it had a bore of 4" and a stroke of 3.75". It also had twin spark plugs and eventually saw its way into the 1963 Grand Sports, by this time with a new aluminium block. Laterally in 1963 it was developed into a dual overhead cam engine and was used in the Grand Sports for the Bahamas Speed Weeks in December 1963.
