I have an opinion regarding 'Eleanor replica' Mustangs.

Yea... I have to say I wouldn't have one either. That said I don't mind them, but it does look like a lot of stuck on tat IMO.

this looks much better in my eyes




and this GT350 is pretty much perfect to me

It's wierd innit, If i posted this on a thread in GG

and said i'd love an E30 M3 they're ace. There would be hundreds of replies saying that's not an M3. But any mention of Shelby Mustangs is met with a flood of photos of 'Eleanor' mustangs presented as genuine GT500s.

You're right of course but I didn't mean it literally.

They seem to have taken a genuinely handsome car and butchered it and placed irregular lumps and bumps all over it yet so many people I meet can't see how it simply doesn't flow.

Each to their own but it plays havoc with my eyes and more.

To Me, Steve McQueens Mustang in bullitt is so much better looking than "Eleanor".

"Eleanor" is trying too hard to look cool.
McQueens Mustang simply is cool!

I believe the expression is: "Less is more!"

They were specifically made and produced for a film. Nothing more, nothing less. The cars made in the Eleanor style today over here from boggo 67 fastback A code cars with bodykits are replicas of the car from the film, they aren't a Shelby and never will be.

Although at one point I think Carroll Shelby had a deal going with the wife of the bloke who made and starred in the original Gone in 60 Seconds film to remake the Eleanors to sell - continuation models as they called them.

Just read the piece - seems old man Shelby hasn't got enough money and is in partnership with CR. Fair enough - I'm sure the cars are lovely - they're for me, just a bit too much like the car in the film.

Too many bumps and bulges for me ...

The red GT500 pictured up there is simply gorgeous.

I have a 67 GT390 floating across the pond as we speak. I'll strip it to every last nut and rebuild it. Can't wait.
