Jaguar "SV6", small capacity V6, sizes ranging from 2 to 2.4 litres.
Compact capacity, all alloy, small external dimensions, using some common parts such as tappets and bearing sizes with the Ford Zetec-SE (Sigma) 4 cylinder of the time.
To go into the smaller X types , X600 roadster (also still born)and perhaps the X202 S type. Was killed due to pressure from Ford who pushed using the larger Jaguar 3 litre Duratec based engine and scaling it down to near 2 litres instead.
Using a big engine and de-stroking and de-boring somewhat with the same bearing sizes is technically the worst thing to do. Did Fords technical guys know that? Probably. Did Fords cycle plan process guys and policians care? No, they had their own agendas...
I've always said this and the Japanese and German understand this: You won't have commercial success if you don't have technical success...

nearly ALL stag engines blew up, thats why so many ended up with Fod V6 or Rover V8 engines retro-fitted (the V8 was the engine it should always have had but couldnt due to licensing problems)Upatdawn said:

The claims were 50% lighter, 30% more fuel efficient, 20% cheaper to make, 70% smaller, and produces 30% less pollution than traditional engines (ie 4-strokes).
That was back in 1995 though, although this article suggests that modern 2-strokes can meet emissions standards (for snowmobiles anyway
