To All, you may have read the exciting news that Benjj has discovered his festering teasmaid loitering at the rear of his garage. To celebrate this announcement we would like to invite PH'ers and their classics to the inaugural "Teasmaid International Meet" on Saturday 28th January at The Finches Arms in Rutland.

This is a relaxed get-together and a good chance to meet other PH'ers, many of whom we regularly 'chat' with but have yet to meet. I have confirmed proposed booking with The Finches Arms for 20 people. It's suggested we arrive for 11a.m. [bar open], food to be served from midday, and there's plenty of parking for the cars.

see http://www.finchsarms.co.uk/ [they have good sample menus on the website + should any of you want to stay overnight they have B&B]

The Finches Arms, Oakham Road, Hambleton, Rutland, LE15 8TH

A big thanks to Chard for suggesting The Finches Arms, though do be careful, he may want to sniff your chariot laugh

Please confirm if you'll be joining us, number of people and car, adding to list below:

Benjj [Ben] Citroen
V8250 [Andrew+1] MGB
Chard [Chard] Sunbean Alpine SV
Williredale [Will]?
Twincam16 [Sam]?

ben, we'll have to think up of an appropriate celebration for 'barbara'. what about a brewing-up session for the brave?

Sorry. Stuff on that weekend so I can't make it. Shame my olfactory organs are in fine fettle.

I look forward to the next one.

Last time something like this happened I got myself into quite a lot of bother...

Work colleague's leaving do was in Rome. Asked the wife about it who said she'd rather I didn't go...
Well thought I, that's not a 'no' so went. Oh dear! eek

Actually, that's not the last time I didn't pay as much attention to what she meant rather than what she said but I got away with that one by catching pneumonia whistle

I must have a very understanding wife... Despite her having a baby on New Year's Eve she said the 28th is no problem at all. Good girl smile

Free bump.

I might be able to bring the family along (i.e. 2 adults + 2 kids).

Is anyone coming who is local(ish) and could put together a decent run out for the cars if the weather is any good?

I was hoping someone else could - I've only lived here six months and seem to be travelling all over the place most of the time so I've yet to work out where the really good roads are.

Ok, if nobody offers to sort one out I'll put a post on the relevant geographical PH forum and ask for some help.

Maybe down to lovely town of Uppingham on the A6003 to Caldecott, turn right (Rockingham Castle across Welland valley to your left) towards Medbourne. Then right on roller-coaster B664 towards Stockerston and up the lovely hill with the sharp left hander near the top back to Uppingham. Then turn left back on to A6003 towards Rutland Water.

That sounds grand. What sort of distance/time is it and is there anywhere that a number of cars could stop mid run for a breather?

It's not that far. Multimap says 32.4 miles & 53 minutes. You can stop halfway at the picturesque Nevill Arms, Medbourne. Used to be an old watering hole of my youth, but seems a bit gentrified these days with a cafe attached. Anyway the village is quaint with a stream running through it.

That sounds pertty damned perfect smile

Anyone else going to be coming down the A1 from the north? I'll be getting on at Harrogate/York if anyone wants to convoy up (or down depending on how you look at it.)
