Seems many people enjoyed this little car, allbeit very fleetingly. The Sport has died out to just one left in the UK, unless someone has one sat in their garden rotting away...

My mum had one - first car I ever saw with passenger and drivers side independent heater and ventilation controls if my memory serves me correct.

Any pictures of it? For such a popular car no pictures seem to exist, bar what's in the brochures, and pics of my old one. Would love to find another in the UK and disprove my theory that CCX 897Y is the last one!

Seems that there are a few left out there.

Growing up my dad had a truly horrendous Chrysler Alpine followed by a Talbot Solara which seemed really modern back in 1982. In our street there was also a Talbot Rancho which looked a bit like a discovery if you squinted and a Tagora.

I had one back then too - worst ever tappety engine, and a gearbox made of cheese, but good for about 110 leptons, which made it faster than all of my buddies mk2 escorts and 1.6 capris! (maybe rose tinted memories)

The Disco was clearly styled on the Rancho!

lol, my dad's was in a sensible blue. His alpine however was in a horrid orange colour, and our driveway had a rust coloured patch where he used to park it.

Someone who lives near me still has a Talbot Rancho. Haven't seen a Samba in years though.

Fond memories of these! First car was a dark blue Samba LE (954cc from memory) which I ran for about a year and chopped it in for a Samba Rallye (1360cc twin Webber carbs!) in bright red. Was really pleased with myself at the time as 2nd gear was going on the LE; then I needed a new clutch within a couple of weeks of buying the Rallye. Engine out job;enough said!!

Had a lot of fun in that car ..... and was no slouch either!! Never seen another though, sadly!
