1985 Escort Xr3i...
Discussion
A pal is thinking of selling his original Escort Xr3i, 1985 B reg, silver, about 70,000 miles. He has owned it since new and has no real idea of the value.
It is in 'fair' condition, and is currently undergoing some 'restoration work' as it has not been used in the last 3 years. Should get an MOT very soon.
It would make a good project if an enthusiast wanted a good original car to cherish, and wanted to take it further ie wanted to use it as a 'weekend car'.
My guess was between £1000-1500, but I am sure someone on here will have more idea !
( This post has been copied over from the PH Ford forum...probably more of a 'classic' really !! )

Thanks for that reply ; this one is certainly not a 'basket case' but has quite a bit more rust than was first thought !
It is currently being welded in the appropriate areas to get it's MOT, certainly not up to concours standard but it will be a decent car when done.
Are you interested in buying it ?It is currently being welded in the appropriate areas to get it's MOT, certainly not up to concours standard but it will be a decent car when done.
To be honest, if he is only getting the welding done to just MOT it, if I were to buy I would strip it to a bare and rebuild to make sure its 100%.
I would not be interested, as it is not really my sort of car, I was just asking about it on here for more informed advice...!!
I agree with the last comment; a true enthusiast would probably completely strip it out & start again, as it is completely original, and then transform it into a concours car.
My pal has several other very nice cars, including a couple of Lotuses ( not Loti ! ), but since this was his first brand new car back in the 80's he has become rather attached to it ! He is trying to get a feel for the market and would really like this car to go to someone who would cherish it rather than just thrash it around for a few months...
Another question to the more knowledgeable among you... where is the best place to advertise an Xr3i ?
