Essex 3 Litre V-6 Engine Nos Codes

Any one have a list of the different Engine No. Codes for these ? Ie Capri, Zodiac, Granada/Consul and Transit etc.

I beleive HY = 3 lITRE, but havnt a clue re the Codes for each vehicle.. Any info much appreciated.

According to my Capri repair manual the HY code is the V6 3 litre.
NY is the V4 2 litre, cant find anything for the 2.5 litre V6 though.

Did they use different engine codes for different models and applications?

Thanks for your reply, its been 25 years since i last owned/fiddled with a 3 Litre Capri !!

Yes, HY = 3 Litre V-6 , but its the Engine No. Codes for different V6s Fitments that i need to identify my Engine and what it was fitted to.

The Engine Nos appear to be stamped at the back of the block on a pad at the base of the Inlet Manifold.

My Engine is stamped STAR S S 0 4851 STAR
Above this is 6 K 13 and to the right is 3 0 above the letter G

Plus 30 Oversize maybe ?
