Been ages since I had a "could it be?" moment, but happened across the Abarth 209 this morning:

Another car with numerous stylistic similarities, but our culprit remains elusive. Of course there's the chance this has already been mentioned, but in 125 pages and years passing I may simply have forgotten rofl

I've not seen that car before. Built in 1955, the front is very futuristic with it's pop-up headlamps. The rear reminds me of the 1953 Pegaso Z-102. https://www.supercars.net/blog/1953-pegaso-z-102-t...

Thanks for your input.....

It's a mystery that nobody has identified the Mystery Car.

It's probably some joker who's seen this thread, made the car in his garage, travelled back in time to precisely the right moment before returning to 2033 where he now sits smugly laughing at everyone.
Could be!

Are some people completely blind? I don't know how someone could look at the original photo and a Saab Sonnet and think it was the same car. Truly mind boggling.
Yes, I agree..

I nearly fell off my chair earlier.
I was on FB, when a post popped up about the relatively unknown MANIC GT.

I had to a double take, but determined that it was a close but no cigar... even though I tried to convince myself that it was 'the one'
( The mystery car has got quite a distinctive door profile).

(160 were built in Canada between 69-71.).

Isn't there aversion of the photo that has a London Cab in place of the mystery car?
I seem to remember that It's not a photo, but a painting.
I've just looked through my pc, but can't find it.
So I'd need to go back through these pages.
If I remember correctly it was painted by an Ex Pat living in Australia and I believe somebody made contact with him. He'd just used the Busses book as inspiratoin and transposed our car for the taxi in his painting.

He's sent me this message on Facebook:-

Stuart Brown
https://www.facebook.com/forte.vision.bespoke/post... In this case you can post these images on the PH forum... the best one to follow, apparently, for this research. But you won't will you? Can't let decent research get in the way of forum politics. BTW I could post myself, but won't.

Funny that when I posted his rendering on my Flickr pages [in the interests of research, opening up the debate to a wider audience] he went bollistic threatening me with solicitors letters for copyrite infringement.
I didn't claim it was my own work. This is my exact wording on his rendering:-
"Another Mystery Car render front_rear. A clever person has created this view of the mystery car."
He then sent me a PM, Names redacted.

The Autosport ad is interesting.
It does add weight to his Sunbeam angle.
But is it 'our' car?
