I agree about the MK1 facelift; my favourite has always been the 3.0 GXL, probably because one of my teachers bought one (new) of the first ones.
He must have been a £ well paid teacher !
One of my teachers Mr. Munt, had a dk blue mini van, another had a pale blue Viva, H registered from memory.

My teachers never had any car that was remotely cool. What they were consistent in what getting something (usually BL) in a really bad colour like Beige or Brown.

I went to a fairly poor comprehensive on the edge of a city.
I recal the headmaster being a pillock with with a VandenPLas Allegro.

My 2nd year form tutoer was a good old bloke, allegedly privately rich, drove a Mercedes 'shooting brake' as he called it,
There was a teacher with a Scimitar GTE. I forget what he taught.

There was a chainsmoking paedo with a Marina.

And then there was a certain Miss XXX who taught science and rode a Kawasaki...

I’m guessing a few here may know this car - an interesting story if true, (I think) the wheels for sure aren’t Mk1 Capri RS, the seats are wrong and there’s no ducktail just as a start.

Well, its not got an Essex registration for a start, which a FoMoCo pre-production car would have, and the known surviving pre-production RS3100's do have.
You'd need to know the chassis number to know if it ties into being a pre-production car, that might have been un-registered and then sold off into the auction system as new later on.....as did happen with one car.

I'm more inclined to say the story is BS though.

Power steering & 5 speed gearbox. Recaro seats. Twin circuit brakes. Reworked rear valance. Kind of a 'resto-mod' ?
Strange not to have a rear spoiler as that was such an important feature of the 3.1 over the RS2600.
It would be interesting to see how it's described on the V5 and check the body plate plus the build code as mentioned above.
It states the vinyl roof has been removed, if it was built out of a GXL has it also lost the side moldings ?

I wouldn't mind it on my driveway but I'd need to confirm its history before shelling out the money.
