I guess we all remember a car we had before it was a classic and which we still had now. Well, this is, of all the cars I've owned, my choice, my E30 Sport.

I always wanted an E30 2.5 sport! I could afford the car but not the insurance back in the day-now it’s the other way round lol

Well, if we're doing collecting "stuff" in our classics, my Dodge WC63 hauling 1700kgs of pea shingle smile Sold it a couple of years ago now, great old truck though, tough as old boots.

God Damn, one of my dream cars right there cloud9 Absolutely love your Galasphere, wanted a '63 1/2 fastback for a while, not arsed on colour as long as it has a 427 with 4 on the floor. Superb looking car you have, was going to ask you to let me know if you're out at any more car meets then saw you're based 'North of the border'! Had my eye on one in the US a couple of weeks back on eBay, missed the bloody end time for the auction and it went for only £31k frown Do you have a thread anywhere detailing your ownership history/experience?

My old man had a Galaxie Sunliner (?) for a while in the early 70s. I couldn't tell you what year the car was.
Two door convertible with a power hood (which took weeks to get working right).
It had a column shift, or possibly auto-trans. An absolute monster.
Fireapple (?) red with white top. I never drove it because I didn't get a license until 73.
I have no idea what happened to it, but I don't think it was worth much at the time. He might have simply abandoned it when we returned to UK.

No ownership thread I’m afraid. I’ve had the Galaxie for a couple of years now and apart from a bit of initial ‘snagging’, have done very little. It’s very reliable and started first time after the winter lay up.
Went slightly wider on the wheels and fitted the hi-po dog dish hubcaps.
It’s not a 427 unfortunately, but does have a 390 with two fours, cam and headers coupled to a close ratio T10 four speed - it gets out of its own way.

The Falcon has a mildly tuned 302 (300bhp/300tq), coupled to a Tremec T5 and aluminium prop to a 9 inch axle with LSD, single leaf springs and Caltracs. Front end is Heidts Mustang 2 crossmember with a steering rack and Willwood brakes.
Surprisingly quick - even in the wet - it’s embarrassed a few prestige marques at hillclimbs (quicker than a Ferrari 355 at Doune).
I think it helps that it only weighs about 1200kg, but that does result in a little ‘flex’.
I have to be a little careful as I drive it to and from the events - and Doune for example has very little room for error.
Forgot to mention - the Falcon has a nitrous kit, but I don’t use it.

Would anybody be interested in an ownership thread (Falcon) and my hillclimb journey which I only started doing last year?

I think that is a rhetorical question!

I'd love to read an ownership thread for either or both. thumbup

That's a shame, appreciate your insight in to ownership though - it's something i've always said "one day i'll have one", think I possibly need to purchase some sort of barn to store it in first...! Always loved the style of them and feel as though the sheer size of the thing would make it a nice stablemate for my A35 hehe

I'd definitely give a thread on the Falcon a read - can appreciate the comments re: Doune, I remember speaking with a friend who did the British Championship a couple of decades ago and he said Doune was the one hill that made him sweat a bit!

Thanks, chaps! I've posted it here before. It has a 427 engine with a few small mods, and 425hp/425 lb ft of torque and primitive suspension (albeit lightly updated in my case) makes for an, um, entertaining drive. I have a lot of respect for the people that raced these. Supremely fun at normal speeds, though. Very nice to tool around in in the crowded South East.

Makes a pretty special noise, too.
