Looks great Mr b
d! I do yern for an older Porsche.
Quick hoon around the Cotswolds on Monday and managed a few good shots. The car performs very well for its age, but it needs being tinkered with. Steady the body roll, firm it up a bit etc.

Gorgeous; my first BMW way back in the late 1980's was a 1973 verona red BMW 2002tii with round rear lights and all the chrome trimmings like yours. I have great memories of it - fabulous handling and indecently quick compared to the 1st generation GTi's and GTE's et al of the time.![](/inc/images/censored.gif)

Lovely. I had a 2002 when I lived in Germany ca. 1992. I loved it. Proper grandad spec. I sold it for DM 3000, so £1000.

I do love a later 2002.
In the 80’s, I had an uncle who lived in Istanbul that owned one fitted with a 3500 Alpina engine. My teenage self was captivated by the sound it made.im sorry to say, I didn’t own a camera back then.
Mid 90’s I was invited to a party at a small holding in the middle of Kent and the owners daughter showed me a barn with about six of them in various states of restoration, including a Ti.

Lovely car PB, certainly doesn’t look 31 years old.
Mr. Monkey. Fine 2002 you’ve got there; back in the day, mine used to go very sideways.

Back in those long gone days dominated by BL , Ford and Vauxhall when a BMW was a comparatively rare sight . The car looks lovely .

Thanks for the nice comments and stories chaps! Most people who talk to me regale stories of them having one or a memory of one. I had a 2 hour round trip in my Z4m yesterday, top down enjoying the sun, I got home at 8. I still jumped in the '02 and went for a little drive for a pint. Just because...Hol, what's the appeal of the later ones? I wanted a 'roundie', mine is '73, so the last of them. The square lights look too conventional to me.
daqinggregg, I don't think I can even get this to break traction! I goes ok if you want but I don't think it'll go sideways easily.

Crackin' pic'. In my early twenties, decades back, when I was rebuilding my house, I needed half a dozen extra floor joists. Popped over to the local Sandfords (Remember them?) in the Mk3 Spitfire. I'd taken a saw and a measure and was quite prepared to cut them to length in the car park, but... when a passing shopper thought he was being funny by saying, "Well, you'll never get those in there"...
Good job it wasn't far to go!

Reading this reminded me of my youth pre-BMW days, always had a certain resentment for 'ze Germans' and their automobile offerings...at the time I was young and naive! I had my 2 door 1200 Cortina with a BRM phase 4 Twin Cam in it mated to a Rocket gearbox, certainly used to give the 2002Tii drivers sour faces when we overtook them - hilarious in a beige Mk1 Cortina with a '1200' badge on the rear panel. Only things I got blown off by in 12 months with that car were Rod Stewart in his Miura around Windsor bypass (his friend following in a Marcos couldn't keep up) and 2 guys in Stetsons one night in a US-registered Shelby GT350 - we were off the end of the standard speedometer doing 7,800RPM in 4th and he came past us like we were standing still. Better times...illmonkey said:

Would love to drive the 968 where you’ve just been, or better still, the roads I know/knew well around the Mendips and Quantocks.

But, 2 questions…
What is it? I am utterly rubbish on cars of this era…
And, as it’s wearing NSW H plates, whereabouts are you? I’ll keep an eye out for it
