My ex Honda boss from back in the day still has one of those Z cars tucked away , wonderful little things with the crash gear box twin motor, never got to sample an S800 but would have love too , did get to drive early 80's Turbo Honda City/Jazz however wink
What do you mean by 'twin motor'? From what I can find out they had a 790cc straight six?
790cc straight six laugh

The Z600 used a 600cc twin cylinder engine, hence the 'twin motor' comment above.

Yes, I'm old enough to know that.....but they didn't fit it or any of their other 6 cyl bike engines into the Z600, which was the point I was making.

Oops, yes sorry, I meant to write straight 4! I've got straight sixes on my mind at the moment!!!

Anyway, I was totally confused because I was Googling all about the s600 (and S500 predecessor) not the Z600 getmecoat

That reminds me of visiting the cafe at Newlands Corner back in the 70s and seeing a picture of a mid-50s V8 500cc Moto Guzzi race bike on the wall:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moto_Guzzi_V8

Ah, the genius that is Allen Millyard, how on earth did he get involved with that idiot Henry Cole; please do not tell me that they threw a load of money at him.

I've had a chat with Allen at a couple of events. As you have no doubt already worked out he is a nice guy in addition to his engineering skills.

I haven't met Henry, he seems daft as a brush. I suspect that is partly for TV but also largely him ! I personally think his heart's in the right place & enjoy the various programs. Not so keen on Find It, Fix It, Flog It though.

Returning to the subject, Allen told me he thoroughly enjoys making the shows and what you see on TV is a real representation. They do what they do and it is filmed, then tidied up for broadcast.

If you look at some of the first stuff Cole did, Worlds Greatest Motorcycle Rides, which was late 2000's, Cole is VERY different to now, and without the silly haircut, and 'fake' hipster slang accent and village idiot persona that he's now developed as part of some TV image that makes him look more of a tt.

I like Henry’s sidekick, Sam Lovegrove, on S&B, and occasional guest appearances by Fuzz Townshend

I think that's a good point, I see what you mean.

Although Cole comes across these days as a complete ahole, I put up with the asinine behaviour and factual errors because some of his programmes I find quite interesting.

Or even better, visit the Sammy Miller Museum in New Milton, Hants - he's got a real one in there (don't think it's a replica)
Loads of other good stuff too, well worth a visit if you're in the area.
Kim
p.s. Way off topic - sorry
