Some period cars in Basingstoke car park. Circa 1985.

Judging by the rust on the rails, I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that's shunted onto a siding next to the staff car park. Even in 1985 they'd surely never let the public that close?

[quote=Gavarnie]Grandparents' travels with an Austin Westminster in France 1961. I guess that in those days the Westminster would have been quite a comfortable car to hit the autoroute in. It must also have had some kind of radio, judging by the aerial shown in the Chamonix photo.

More refreshments, no idea where

Looks like Quai Sainte-Catherine, Honfleur

Posting pics without copyright clearance apparently, despite warnings etc.

Great posts on the previous page, by Garvarnie and moffspeed, good to see post, with a personal connection.

With regard to copyright, I guess we will all need to careful, myself included.

I think so too. He posted some extremely interesting stuff and he's a proper gearhead.
I hope it's not permanent.
I got a permanent ban from the council thread but that was fair enough. It looked innocent enough to me but it was a definite breach of the rules.
The mods get a lot of stick but I it's a bit unfair I think . It's a thankless task

true - but they also don't always help themselves when it comes to consistency, which seems a common gripe. Anywho - wildly O/T on a cracking thread

ok not a picture but a short 1 min video from London 1975

I looked it and spotted a nice Lotus Elan cabrio starts at 0.12 sec to 15 sec

but the rest is also lovely how it was back then, yes in that thread there was also such sort video how it is now in 2024... but I won't bother you with that ;-)

here the video with the Lotus and london part back in 1975

I'm happy to be corrected but I'd say the clothes are quite a bit earlier than 75. Elan was a 67.

Great clip though.

Christ, don't quite get why Nij has been banned - perhaps the mods should focus their efforts on eradicating the countless daily threads in GG advertising services for various ladies of the night? No, they're right - uploading a copyrighted picture without the creator's consent is deserving of the most severe punishment...

I miss his knowledge and contributions, but copyright infringement is theft. And if the owners of the copyrights being infringed are coming after PH for redress then you can see how it quickly becomes a problem for the site, especially if he's been warned of this several times.

Yep, no way is that from 1975, more like 1968/69.

I have no idea, some cars are old indeed, of course incl that Lotus, but some which you see to short are a bit more modern, but then could still be late 60 indeed :-)

love the almost hippy colors of some buildings and clothing, I guess the person posted it guessed a bit about the year filmed.

I never been to London, my younger sisters go often, 1 or twice a year for sure to London and also sometimes to way other places via friends in the country and their combined interesses or work related things.

As said by another poster, its the clothes and hair styles, that shout 1967-1970 period, not 1975. Fashions and hairstyles were VERY different by mid 70's, and those flower power era shops fronts and decoration had vanished by then as well from that area. All very different in that area of London by mid 70's.

I would say 67/68. London was far better in those days.

I won't post that video what they compared it with in 2024, but I guess a lot know, its so so different, but not in a good way sadly, it looks like London took over by, well, some in power let them, just like the rest of Big cities in Europa. Kalergi plan all the way and way way more to come, not cars ;-)
