To try to make the car look as original as possible? Once you have the paint, wheels and interior done, it's the little details that add to the finished article.

I was unreasonably pleased to recently get hold of not only a, but the, original tax disc holder for one of my classics, issued by the supplying dealer. It was only slightly tempered by the fact that I don't have a tax disc to display any more, and haven't got around to having a suitable 1970s one made. Unfortunately the tax discs that came with the holder are for the second year, not the first.

I agree, the reason I started this thread was to help a friend who was totally obsessed with originality. He has restored a number of cars. As well as a ground up restoration, respray with the exact colour code. He made sure the engine was painted in the original colour together with other components. Then he would search the world for the "little stuff", Dealer stickers, tax disc holder, service and hand books together with the wallet, even a key fob. Mad ? I don`t think so, finding all those little things makes all the hard work worth while. ( and adds value to the finished project?)

I've got a Carrs of Exeter Porsche sticker in my rear window. Which is fine. Except the car didn't come from there. It was sold as a used car by them in the mid 90s. Its reg is PMW which is a Swindon registration, which is ironic as that's where I went to College in the late 70s/early 80s.

When I get round to it I shall get a Dick Lovett Swindon one done. And also replace the reg plates as well.

It's the little things as said. Why would anybody NOT want the original dealer sticker in the rear window?

You're not suggesting putting the original dealer sticker in the rear window though, but getting some other sticker that has the original dealer's details on, and putting that in the window. I hope you don't destroy the original mid-90's used car dealer sticker in the process.

Tell me who has an original 1989 dealer sticker from Dick Lovett Swindon and I'll use that. They're all reproduction! If I can remove the Carrs one intact I will, as it's part of the history of the car - but to me it's at odds with the reg.

Same still in the windscreen when I bought my Quattro. Unalloyed delight on my part, everyone else confused

It was a bit stiff and rickety though, so I've scanned it and redrawn new artwork, replicating all the typographic oddness of the original. Specifically, although it looks like correct VAG Rounded corporate typeface, it isn't, it's some kind of weird redrawn Futura. nerd

I also got the spare key on a brand new (ie unused, it was twenty years old even then) supplying dealer key fob. Just need to get the number plates done. Chap mentioned up thread has probs and can't do.

Perhaps we should have a thread to display copies of original dealer stickers and in that way build up a database?

There's one on Retro Rides with quite a lot of images, I think I linked to it earlier.

I Say Ding Dong in Solihull do a decent range of repro dealer stickers, I've bought several items from them recently and the quality is very good.

While predominately Ford biased, these people do many other other non-Ford dealer rear window stickers, and I guess if you have an original of a type they don't do, they would reproduce it.

To bring a thread back, I'd love to get a Rob Walker (Bournemouth) Limited sticker - I've got a Lancia Fulvia which was supplied by them when new in 1972 and it would be great to have one in the rear window but I can't find an image anywhere. It was searching for that which led me to this thread. If anyone can help I'd be really grateful. The companies mentioned here for supplying the stickers don't list it unfortunately.
I got window stickers for my Lancia, used a scan from the original sales receipt I had and found a supplier - https://diginate.com/ - who made them for a very reasonable price, very quickly

Repro sticker in my old S2 XJ6....

Remains of the Henlys decal on the front plate from my 1970 P5B Coupe....

Original (I think) S&A sticker in a '68 Mk2 Mini 1000....

A slightly different repro one....

Usually fitted to dashboards or the doorshut area....

Period keyfobs....

And another original sticker, wouldn't mind a repro of this one....

If you can get a decent scan of it the place I used could do that easily. I should add that I've no connection to them, they came up in a Google search, all done online and received very quickly.
