The pretty little Isuzu 117 Coupe. Unusual in 2 ways - a Japanese car with an Italian designer (Giugiaro) but also, amongst the 5 engine options, a diesel.

The beefiest petrol engine was of 1949cc capacity.

A date that still resonates over half a century on.

My old RS2000 X-pack.

1993cc’s worth of orange Pinto fun and occasional terror.

1982 WDC was Keke Rosberg, possibly the maddest man ever to hold the title.

Brilliant, I have great memories of taking a step back from the spectator fencing at Silverstone whilst watching “that lap”.

Another “1982 “ - Brands FF Festival 2000. Anthony Davidson wins but an excited 18 year old American is alongside him on the podium.

Danica Patrick, born 1982.

It could have been another Peugeot but we’ll go for an L.R. product, the latest Defender at 2.008 metres width.

That’s not very classic is it ? I’ll think again….

Before the halo - the interesting “balsa” Protos F2 car from 1967.

Pedro Rodriguez crashed this one comprehensively at the Mediterranean GP (Enna) on 20/08 1967.

2 decades ago, from Madhya Pradesh in Central India the Eicher 20.16.

16 tons, powered by a 6 cylinder engine giving just 147hp . Top speed (on the flat) of 54mph, fully laden and going uphill - considerably less I would imagine.

W169 Merc - the A200 turbo version. Nearly 200 BHP in an old A Class. 2034cc forced induction.

It wouldn’t dodge an elk, it would blast a hole through the middle of it.

Those panel gaps worry me..

The original Mini had a wheelbase of either 2036, 2037 or 2038mm depending on which source you trust. Maybe it was down to how hard the subframes were clouted into place.

We'll go for the average - 2037mm.

It’s fine. A car related to the 1953 Maserati A6GCS.

This particular example was the first built, matching numbers (engine/chassis) 2040.

A steroidal version of the Stelvio. The Transfagarasan Highway in Romania.

Jeremy Clarkson says it is the best driving road in the world - judging by the photos he might be right. The road climbs to a nose-bleeding peak altitude of 2042 metres.

One for the bucket list.

..whilst in Slovakia the Dumbier peak is the tallest of the "Low" Tatras at 2043 metres.

As you are probably aware the Tatras are geographically divided into 3 entities - the "Low", the "High" and "the Sideways" :

Tsukuba Circuit in Japan. Probably only familiar to the gamers out there - features on various editions of G.Turismo & Forza Motorsport.

I must admit I thought it was one of those fictional cyber circuits but no - it’s the real deal, opened in the mid 60’s and measures 2.045 Kms in length (slightly longer if you have to negotiate the m’cycle chicane).

A proper Saab. Per Eklund's 9-3 Viggen 4WD. Competed very successfully at Pikes Peak 2000/2002.

With a bit of turbo wizardry 750 BHP from 2046 cc.
