Just come across this pic of my old '64 Mk1 Mini which I owned from 1998 to 2001...

Its 850 engine was past its best so a 998 was installed with a remote gearchange conversion too, the guy I sold it too reshelled it into a much later shell, painted it red and put a 1275 in it.

Par for the course with Minis, and bog standard 850s are now strangely sought after. Mk2s are the rarest of the lot as they only made them from October '67 to February '70.

I still regret letting our 1963 1071 'S go... but we didn't have the storage at the time. I'd love it back now.

Same here with my '65 ('66 registered) 1275 S...

Rare beast nowadays unfortunately... no thanks to people like my dad who, 4 days after passing his test and having a 1071S as his first car, rolled his in to a ball... frown

Very rare... it wasn't perfect by any means, it needed restoring... but it was all there. It went to a good home though, and was set to be restored.

Here's one - best have a look down the back of the sofa for any lost change first...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325234563353?hash=item4...

It has the correct full width lower valance for a '63 but the doors are from a later Mk1 (or possibly a Mk2) as they have the 'safety boss', despite having the correct short Mk1 exterior handles. The stainless steel door trim is also missing.

That's not too bad... ours sold for £32k ish back in 2016, needing probably £12k spending on it.

If I didn't already have two Minis in the collection I'd be tempted.

As rare as the ‘60s Cooper models are, they still keep coming out of the woodwork and there are still plenty hidden away - a mate of mine is sitting on a ‘65 998 Cooper that was taken off the road by its original owner in ‘73 when it failed its MOT, he bought it in from him in 2003 and hasn’t touched it since. It needs work but looks fantastic in old English white with a black roof and the full ‘brocade’ red and grey interior. He won’t sell it to me though!

Despite having my Maser for a year now, I still can’t stop looking at old Minis for sale!

Wish I still had my Mk3 Cooper S.
Bought in 1971 from Hexagon of Highgate for £1080. !
Think it may be worth a bit more than that now if it is still around.
