Fuego Turbo anyone ?
I had a 2.0 GTX.

The engine was a bit mainstream dull, compared to my Scirocco GTI but it handled well, had lovely seats and of course the "plip" remote control.
I had one of those too! Very high mileage and a bit of a shed but supremely comfortable to drive and had a bit of a Porsche 944 look about it. Well, a bit…

My Dad had one of these from new when I was a teenager. Toyota Celica Supra, in black and looked stunning, my friends thought it was very cool. This one’s for sale, tempting!

I had a 1995 BMW 325i Coupe back in 2000. It was a great car apart from a few interior quality niggles. I love Coupe’s and following years of owning 4 door saloons when the children were growing up, I bought 4 Series Coupe in 2022.

My Dad had an 87 Toyota Celica GT back in the late 80’s, that was rather underwhelming in most respects, although hyped by the press.

Have we had the Subaru SVX yet ? I only ever met one person brave enough to part with his money and that was Stephen Conway who owned the Jewellers shop in Milton Keynes Shopping Centre . Some years later running into him driving a Mercedes SL500 I inquired after the Subaru . After a litany of failures most involving the Gearbox and a difficulty in sourcing parts he claimed to have traded it for "ten bob" against the Mercedes .To give him his due he was philosophical about the experience . Anyone have any experiences of the SVX , there cant be many of you ?
When I had my Subabru pick up, there were a few folk in my circle that were into other Subarus. One had a Leone coupe, there were a few variants of the Coupe based on the same running gear as the pick up and saloon. Another chap was well into his SVX coupes. I don't know how they stacked up when new (probably badly and expensive), but as an older, interesting choice, they were a fantastic car. Fast, powerful, very competent, well appointed and charismatic with the indestructible feel of that era of Subabru... Also, without doubt, full of Quirky Subaru charm. I'd have one tomorrow in preference to many a much lauded rival - if I had good reason to own something as modern.
Chances are tho' I would find myself a '70s GLF in preference...

There was a guy up around Pitlochry who - I was told - had several SVXs. I saw one of them once when it came to a local Subaru garage for servicing.

I'm sure I've seen a couple of manual swapped SVXs. It's been cheaper than sourcing a replacement gearbox and in best Subaru tradition the bits are compatible

Mitsubishi Starion ….
That is a fabulous looking car. Back in the day, the 944 looked more cohesive and elegant but now, 30 years later, you can't argue that that doesn't look arresting.

The Starion looks like a comic book 944 in a good way!

I had a couple of Porsche 944s back in the late '90s and loved them. A Nissan Fairlady Z - the JDM 300ZX twin turbo - was great, but rather high maintenance.

A few years ago, I replaced this

with this

and it's epic.

Yup. - Actually a Bitter SC. The CD was the 1970s one with the Chevy V8. The Bitter had half the number of cylinders of the Ferrari, but that doesn't mean it was half the car. It was considerably less than that biggrin

The choice was a 928, a Camargue, a V12 XJS or this - on reflection, I am complete eighties & nineties coupe fetishist.

The 80's GTA has been mentioned but this was the successor from the 90's, the Alpine A610 Turbo.

90s coupe, not particularly fast, but has to be the 406 coupe for me. Stunning from the outside, a nice handling car, and with the v6 a nice soundtrack to go with it.
I agree

I had one and it drove really well for a big car and it did look good.

Performance Car ( the forerunner to EVO mag ) were quite smitten with that in the early 90s
