serie 14 of my day in Nijverdal at a Sunday shopping day combined with their yearly classic cars between them in the shopping district.

Kamei kit or Oetinger? Maybe something else? Very 80s…

Appears to be not as loved as one might expect.

Another from the weekend

Lovely, I like how clean that is under the bonnet, nice job done there.
...but where is all the other stuff that is really needed, like brake master/servo, clutch master, ignition electrics, windscreen washer bottle etc etc ?

Everything was hidden, there wasn't even a wire in site.

It’s a very common treatment especially in the US modding/hot rodding industry.
Not sure what I think about it in this case. I suppose there’s a ton of perfectly concours restored Escorts so why not do something a little different? It’s very well executed by the looks of it.

Recent purchase. Went to a local car meet at weekend and got allot of negative views on it thinking I've put a mk3 cortina front end onto a capri.

Needless to say they changed when got a closer look

This is awesome. What are the wheels? They're reminiscent of Rostyles.
BTW, in the side-on picture, is the offside rear tyre a touch on the low side?
Or is it just me?

Yeh they are rostyles and yeh tyres were bit soft. That was from day collected the car

Basically is a mk3 cortina but European spec so.called a taunus. Front of bonnet narrower, roof at front inch lower and being a coupe. To my knowledge there's 2 in Scotland including this one and 3 lurking around England somewhere

2.0ltr v6 with a borg warner autobox. Another thing never seen was the the flywheel was part of the torque converter and back of engine was a small diamond shaped drive plate

Most high budget rally escorts are built like this. Floor mounted bias pedal box with no servo and internal cylinders, ECU in the cabin and coil packs so no dizy/leads, PDU so no fuses, electric power steering on the upper column etc etc

Smart Taunus !

I think the only exterior body panels you can interchange with a Mk3 Cortina are the rocker panels and front & rear valences.

A Mk3 Cortina has a simple lower bodyside swage line but the Taunus has a large stepped lower swage line like the Mk4 Cortina.

Nice.

I'm guessing being a GXL version, that will also have the early style curved down dash and sunken 3 clock dash, like the early Cortina's did?

I think they did. When production in Eur ended Ford produced them in Turkey and Argentine, updated in line with the contemporary Cortina with the flat dash and the rectangular binnacle. You can tell the later ones as they have different tail lights and mk V headlights/indicators
