E&OE was just another feeble attempt at humour.
On reflection, I think it was the Ministry of Transport.
All that ghastly Barbara Castle, 70mph, MoT business.
among the suspects at the Speed Awareness Course I attended in the City of London, there was a grumpy old boy from Northamptonshire who, when asked the meaning of a round white road sign with a black diagonal line, said it meant derestricted. The copper taking the course corrected him, saying it meant National Speed Limit, the old boy contradicted him. No, it means derestricted, I can go as fast as I like. They kept it going until the copper gave up.
Off Topic btw
If he was old enough to have been driving before the introduction of the 70mph limit, it was referred to as derestricted, as I can remember my father calling it that when I was a child growing up in the 60's, and he was a serving copper at the time. Even years later, he still called it derestricted even though by then he knew it meant NSL applies. On reflection, I think it was the Ministry of Transport.

Spotted this Aston in the car park at my local Tesco today. The owner is much braver than me, although it was parked a long way from the entrance and the store wasn't busy.
I don't know too much about them but being on an E plate, so 1967 registration, I'm guessing it is a DB5. Stunning car anyway!

Is that near Taunton?I don't know too much about them but being on an E plate, so 1967 registration, I'm guessing it is a DB5. Stunning car anyway!
There was an E plate DB6 exactly like that that a chap drove quite regularly.
I haven’t seen it, or him, for a few years. Last time it had wood sticking out of the Webasto roof as he headed away from B&Q!
As I hadn’t seen it for a while I feared the worst for the owner. I helped him once when his 560SEC failed to proceed, so was on speaking terms if not ‘mates’.

So either he was a long way from home, has moved or the car has changed hands, assuming it's the same one.
It was in lovely condition, and in a way it was nice to see something so special being used as a normal car!

I really can't get on board with the love for P6s. They give me the creeps. There's something "institutional" about them which is probably buried deep in suppressed memories from my childhhod or something.Doofus said:

It’s one of the things about Classic Cars, they invoke feelings & memories. Now usually these are good, first girlfriend, parent’s cars invoking innocent child hood memories of long hot summers & melting ice cream.
They are doubtless equally capable of invoking less pleasant memories.
I do know one lady who despises 70’s Jags because her father’s business partner who ripped the family off and had a huge impact on her childhood drove one.
I can well imagine that certain makes and models could uncover some quite unpleasant memories.
