Looks an absolutely stunning car and I love the colour. I wasn’t aware that was one of the original colours.

For people like me, I’ve always considered owning a classic car. However I just don’t have the money or time to devote to one.
To be honest Rob , I was considering packing in the modern cars and just keeping a classic . I am finding it harder and harder to justify a performance car that's nigh on impossible to enjoy outside of a Track Day . I am 60 years of age and far from irresponsible when it comes to driving but I am enjoying it less and less

I only use my 55 year old Amazon now, probably drive it 6 days out of 7 all through the year. Love it! Starts first time every time and is great fun to drive. Probably one of my favourite cars I've ever owned.

My TVR doesn't really move now, and just sits in the garage. I'd be lucky to say it's done 75 miles since 2020. frown Keep telling myself I must get around to polishing it and putting it up for sale.

Not that nice-it says in the advert it needs easy start to get it to start momentarily so will need trailering away..

Going to need some recommissioning as any car will do that’s stood a while, but seems decent for the money. There are still a few about to choose from, luckily.

I had an 1988 XJ12 that turned out to be rotting nicely after 10 years.
Despite the very low miles on this, those reports of ‘rust spots’ around the screens and evidence of previous paint are giving me painful flashbacks.

It always seemed to me that rot set in very fast under the rear screen, and if left untreated crept downwards to the wings and fuel tanks. By then the car was turning into scrap metal

As long as that?

A customer had a C plate Sovereign V12 that needed four new doors in 1988 - just two or three years old.

The bodies were just rubbish really. Typical Pressed Steel quality.

Even so, the big problem is that they are horrid to drive.

I don’t know if that was the general consensus at their time of manufacture . I owned a few of them and the air suspension at least when new was a wonderful ride .

They were better to pedal down the road than an S-Class of the same vintage - at least they were when they were new.

That's my belief too and its interesting to see the best of them still holding a good percentage of their initial cost . Previous generations of XJ at 20 years of age lost money like a drunken Sailor in a Red Light area .

I think you need to get this onto our Cosworth thread . Crazy money in my humble opinion and unlike the RS500 its not even reflective of the marketplace .

Would you not say that's good value in comparison with a restoration to get something in a condition like this....
