The latest "Lotus" "magazine" (£20 per issue, 3 issues per year) seems to give an insight into someone's psyche (not mine)

In there we have
  • multiple pages of girls in see-through swimwear/underwear draped over the new cars (admittedly PH lounge content at times, but it's all photos and there's not enough of the cars shown and definitely no details)
  • Bahar simpering about how he sat in a car with Sharon Stone at the Paris motor show
  • something about sex in cars
  • a feature subtitled "the girls in Paris who can show you a good time" (or something like that)
and a 20 page feature on a Renault F1 car with a couple of Lotus logos on it, and a claim that Lotus are re-entering F1 after 17 years away...

There is one mildly interesting piece on Jochen Rindt and a single page on the Type 108 bicycle.

Shame it's printed on shiny paper - I can't even make use of the rest of the magazine in the smallest room in the house.

Thanks, now I know what the 'packet won't fit through your letter box' is awaiting collection at the Sorting Office.

Don't know if I can be bothered to collect though! Can't they do an enthusiasts version without all the lifestyle gumph for a tenner?

Oh well, subscription runs out soon anyway, I'll find something useful to spend my money on next time round.

Regards, Neil
PS Good luck Danny, I do hope you've got more of a clue what you're doing than it would appear...for Lotus sake!

PPS I don't mean to sound negative, but I just feel Lotus are needlessly alienating a whole section of its core customer base in pursuit of another which may or may not exist.

My Missus has enjoyed the two issues so far simply because it's not a anorak-fest banging on about composites and slip angles.

Marshalla, you put it very well! As you say: "The latest "Lotus" "magazine" ....... seems to give an insight into someone's psyche (not mine)."

As a normal bloke (well, as normal as most) I agree with you. I don't want to have my car associated with the image created by that magazine. (Glanced at via the Lotus web-site.)

It's not the material as such. All is available in other publications, and people can choose according to their tastes. (Me too.)

The issue for me is that Lotus is supposedly representing "the Lotus driver's interests and outlook on life" as a message. Well I'm a long time multi Lotus driver, and it is not mine!

The Bahar/Sharon Stone piece is yucky in the extreme. I wouldn't want to touch a car that she had been in - and now I'm beginning to feel much the same about Bahar.

Got issue 1 but my subscription ran out in February and didn't both renewing it as the first issue was mainly full of rubbish. Wasn't expecting to get issue 2 but it has turned up so I will have a look through it but can't see me renewing my membership. Not sure what it now costs but each issue is not worth £20!

Membership of what ? Lotus Club International has been closed down - you're getting the magazines for as long as your membership would have lasted. Once that expires, the only option on offer is a subscription to the magazine at £20 per issue or £60 a year.

Don't forget - you are buying into a lifestyle now.

(hmmm - answered my own question with that last sentence, didn't I ? I can't afford a lifestyle anyway.)
