Hello, I am trying to track down an electric window motor for a 1972/3 Europa Special. The existing part may be repairable, but I have to plan for it not being so. I have tried asking all of the usual specialists, but no joy so far.

What does it look like (any chance of a photo?)

If it's the same as an Elan, then its a Ford wiper motor (from an Anglia, if my memory serves me correctly, though the MK1. Escort is similar enough to be able to adapt it without trouble).

ETA... no, sorry - ignore me. I've just looked up the parts list online and it appears to be completely different. frown

The parts cross-refference is saying mid 60-70 GM, so maybe you need to be looking at old Vauxhail/Opel models? Golden Gate Lotus Club says 'Delco - try Olds(mobile?)'

I assume you've tried asking the usual suspects if they know what other cars it was shared with?

Thanks for the GM idea. The motor is indeed different from the one used in an Elan - which is annoying but typically Lotusish. No doubt C Chapman bought whatever he could get off the back of a passing lorry. Still, the Marina interior door handles are classy.

I shall take a pic of the motor tomorrow when I am taking it to a local electric motor repair shop.
