Was mulling over the same 'problem' yesterday.
Elite would suit me down to the ground, but it's a few years away.
I was planning to chop the 997 in for an Evora S next year, but now I'm concerned that the new models will decimate the Evora's residuals.
Hmmm. Probably keep the Porsche and be patient.

It could be the last chance to own a manual Lotus though...

the S is likely to be pretty spectacular to drive too, could be just the thing to tide me over.

so far at least Evora residuals have been very impressive.

I don't understand why the residuals have been so good. As an Evora gets older, surely it will become less attractive than a Cayman. Perhaps it is because the Evora is so very rare (by which I mean unpopular) the supply of used cars is even lower than the demand.

Still, Lotus's move upmarket is more likely to strengthen residuals rather than weaken them. The lovely new Elite will be in excess of £115k, after all.

Lots of people said they'd wait to pick up a used Evora so I guess that's your answer.

I think the Evora is like the NSX before it. On paper it looked expensive compared to its rivals. But the spec came together to produce a very special driving experience. The GTR is unquestionably faster than the Evora but less rewarding to drive.

The Evora's important because it has proven that a comfortable 1400kg car can still drive and feel like a Lotus should. It's what reassures me that the new Elite will be, above all else, brilliant to drive.

I quite admire at the outrage over Lotus making a car over 1000kgs on here. I like the way hardcore fans maintain Colin Champman's ideals with religious fervour, and as a very happy Elise owner I am among them in insisting that Lotus should continue to make an ever lighter, basic, brilliant sports car. But I also think it's ok for Lotus to explore other avenues.

After all no-one complained when the Lotus Carlton came out. Incidently it weighed 1665kg, which was quite a lot back then. But most people were more interested in the idea of a 5 seat £50k saloon which could keep up with a £120k Ferrari.
