1973 Lotus Europa Special looking for a reliable repair shop
Discussion
Hello all.
I own a 1973 Lotus Europa Special, in JPS livery, with the Lotus-Ford twin cam big valve engine, two twin choke Dellorto 440s, and the Renault five speed gearbox. The car is (or was) in pristine unrestored condition, having been looked after with fanatical care almost from new by one dedicated owner, who sold the car to me early this year.
I made the very foolish mistake of entrusting the car to some people who deal mainly with old MGs and, being used only to working on tacky mass market cars which were dire when new and are dire as classics, they have bodged this rare and valuable Lotus quite badly. I shall not tell the full tale of woe, but now I need to find a reliable specialist in classic Lotus cars within reasonable range of London. I have Googled, and seen all the usual hits, but would welcome recommendations or warnings to avoid based on personal experience, by PM if preferred. Many thanks for any help which you can offer.

Most knowledgeable Europa chap I know is Richard Winter at Banks Service Station. I always used to go to him for advice

Morland & Jones in Hammersmith. Job done
Seconded. They look after my ordinary S2 superbly, but they always have some absolutely lovely classics in. Last time I was there, they had an Elan +2 with an engine bay you could eat your dinner off. It was unbelievable.Great guys as well.
