Does any one remember the garage Rydal Lotus? It was at the top of the street that runs parallel to Broad St,
Birmingham in the Seventies?
It was along side a Shell station.

Who can help me out with a piece of Birmingham history?
I live in Holland and have a TVR Vixen S3. I know from a former owner he bought the Vixen by a small TVR/Lotus
garage which was on Broad St. Birmingham in the late Seventies.
I really like to know the name of this garage.
I already tried Melvyn Larner, but he couldn't help me furthur. I think it was just a small "sports car" garage. I have found a name of a garage called "John Chilton & Co", but don't know if this was the one.
Which "Brummie" can help me furthur?

Who can recall a garage called
"John Chilton & Company"?
They were at 71 Broad St. , Birmingham.
Can it be that they sold Lotus
cars?

Any one ever heard of a car dealer
called John Chilton & Company?
They were at 71 Broad St., Birmingham.
Could it be that they sold TVR´s?

Who can help me with a late Seventies sales advert from a BMW dealer called Ryland Cars in Birmingham? They were on Broadstreet late Seventies.

so its not just me thinking that then Trunkie, its been an on going thing for the last six months.

I've tried to assist in the past, but one does question Vixons persistance, perhaps Vixon could enlighten us

Anyway, as far as I'm aware is always been 'Ryland Lotus' who I believe took on the franchise in the mid/late eighties with the demise of Colmore Depot IIRC.

As far as I can recall Ryland Lotus always traded from Summerhill, Birmingham and possibly from Ryland Street prior to that, (Ryland street is just off broad street)
Ryland Lotus ceased trading in Jan 2000 when it was sold and became Nick Whale Sportscars

As regards to having any records, I would think it most unlikely with the car being soo old

well as far as i'm aware Rydale has only ever been the trading name of Rylands BMW dealerships which would have been on broad street during the Seventies, before relocating in the late nineties to summerhill, as regards to a Shell station I have no recollection (I was only a kid back then!), but over the years broad street has changed dramatically and the only thing you'll find there now are clubs, bars and restaurants
