RE: Bobo W's Lotus Europa
Discussion
The Renault 14 had a peugeot/citroen engine.
The 16 engine was used in versions of the 12 Gordini, 17, 18, 20, Alpine A110 1600 & A310 1600 and F3 racing (the old 1600cc version) It's a very under-rated motor. If Renault hadn't had an exclusivity deal with Alpine for 'tuned' versions, Lotus would never have put the Twincam in the Europa. It's Lighter and Very nearly as powerful in the Alpines (but not in the 'lotus' 1470cc guise)!

Hi
Don't really know why this came up as a topic for conversation but although the original cars had 1,470cc engines mine had a 1,565cc engine as fitted by BSS. If memory serves me right this was the basis for a number of variations of A110 and if funds had been available would have allowed the engine to be tuned better than the original. At the time Richard also offered me a Fuego Turbo engine !
