As the owner of a J.P.S. Europa from new the J.P.S. Europa is the Europa Special with the Elan Big Valve DOHC engine in J.P.S. Colours. This engine gave 126 bhp and it was claimed a 0-60 time of 6.6 secs quite respectable in 1972. There was an optional 5 speed gearbox to help motorway cruising which my car has. The rear was cut down from the renault engined cars in both the Europa twin cam and the Europa Special.
The original J.P.S. Europas were produced to celebrate the 1972 World Championship and Lotus promised we original owners that would only produce 100 each indivually numbered. My own car was initially number 007 but unsurprisingly the badges for cars 001, 002, 003 and 007 were lost in the factory. My car was renumbered to 046. Later on in Eropa Special production the colour scheme became available I think in 1974 and 1975 the last year of Europa production.
Hope that helps.
