Classic Lotus Europa S2 Owners
Discussion
Hi,
I have an original Lotus Europa S2 and wondered if there was any other owners out there to discuss ownership issues and experiences or perhaps any decent websites to look at. There is loads of info on later Lotus models but not so much (that I can see) on classic Lotus. I have looked at Banks etc but would like to gain as much relevant info as possible.
This is my fourth Lotus and I seem to be going back in history - Elise S2 (2002 Model) then Elise S1 (1998 Model), then Lotus Excel (1989 Model) and now a 1971 Europa.
My car was registered in 1971 and was originally yellow. It was raced previously to my ownership and has some interesting modifications including Type 47 body, Adjustable suspension and alloy dash, Luke harnesses etc.
I have been in contact with Lotus and their archive department and they say that the engine and chassis numbers match but could not help with any of the modifications that have been done.
I have attached a few pics. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I own a 1971 Red S2 that has been fitted with a later Lotus Twin Cam engine and 5-Speed (395 Type) gearbox. The body itself is a Type 65 Federal model that was originally destined for the States. Apparently 100 or so cars were held in customs and shipped back to the UK for conversion to RHD.
The car is off the road at the moment as I'm doing a hand full of small jobs and upgrades, should be back up and running in a couple of weeks. There is a Yahoo forum that is quite active with lots of useful technical stuff. I'll try and post some pictures and links in the next couple of days.
P.S Very nice looking Europa!

Mine is a S2 type 65 with the 1565cc Renault unit. It has been off the road for a number of years but it is nearing completion. I have basically needed to replace everything. Fingers crossed it will be on the road next year. A good site is http://www.lotus-europa.com/
