because then they could build a car from any old bits of shyte and claim it's a "Lotus Elan"?

Or because they've got a nicked car and want to ring it?

Just a thought or two....

PS: Big D and I were gonna go to Stoneleigh today but didn't get around to it - any bargains to be had??

Could you rebuild it and not pay tax as it's over 30 years old?

more likely it's so that you can race in HSCC depending on the 'age' of the car.
