Original Elan Parts - Transmission Tunnel Trim
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I'm just starting out on the nut and bolt rebuild of an Elan S4 and I was hoping you might be able to recommend the best people to use for parts. In particular I'm having problems finding a replacement trim that goes over the transmission tunnel and has the gearlever sticking out of it as mine is cracked. I'd really appreciate any ideas you guys have for where to find bits - I've been scouring ebay but all the transmission tunnel trims seem to be broken!
Cheers,
Simon

Regarding Classic Elan bits, there are quite a few options, you may know about some but here they are anyway...
Sue Miller is very good and can usually supply just about anything for an old Elan.
QED Motorsport for engine bits, (also Burton Engineering ).
Christopher Neil in Cheshire.
Paul Matty Sports Cars.
Spyder Engineering for suspension bits.
Tony Thompson Racing for specialist lightweight ( ie expensive!) racing bits.
Pat Thomas at Kelvedon Motors for performance handling kits etc.
I am sure that you will know about the ClubLotus Show & Festival 18th/19th April at Donington Park, where most of the above will be attending ( they usually do ) and there should also be a decent Autojumble where you may get the bits you need.
By the way the central tunnel plastic trim item you mention is quite difficult to find, so you may have to buy new, and they are quite expensive!

The 'Club Lotus Show & Festival 2009' as it is advertised in ClubLotus News magazine is well worth going to, especially if you are nearby. We travel every year from The North East and you see folk from all over Europe who travel to Donington. You can spend quite a while just wandering around the car park ( weather permitting of course ) as a lot of people use the show as an excuse to give their Lotus a good run out at the start of the 'Season'.
There are modern & historic car displays, club & trade stands, as well as an Autojumble. There are 'live' technical demonstrations and the rumour is that Lotus Cars are planning to bring the new Evora along. Classic Team Lotus are booked to display several of their historic GP cars ( which are regularly used these days apparently ). There is also modern day racing organised on the circuit. ( All this information was gleaned from the Club Magazine...so I am only relating what is already in print..!)
I have found that the Show is a 'good day out', and there are usually bargains to be had, which is a bonus !
