Gents

I have recently come accross the bodyshell of an old Europa in a barn at a friends farm, she says its been there for years and is now wanting to move it on.
To be fair, theres not a lot left of it, all the body is there, in flaky black paint, along with all the glass excluding the windscreen, the rad is still in the front and the door cards are in the shell along with a bit of wiring loom. Apart from that theres not a lot left to work with.
The number plate is in the boot, and its an old'H' reg number plate, which along with the VIN plate makes it around 1970, so an S 11. The VIN also says 54 as the first part, so again, between 1969 and 1972 I think.
The question is, will it be worth buying it from her and trying to source the parts and engine etc for a rebuild??
Are the parts readily available or will I be looking at throwing a lot of money at it to get it into a running position?
Ive also considered going down the 'bike engine' route.... just a thought!

Your comments and thoughts greatfully received.

If you have the shell, vin plate and reg no. definitely worth saving and definitely speak to Richard at Banks - he'll sell you, find or make everything you'll need to complete it.

I came across a guy at Silverstone some years ago who had put the running gear from a GT40 under a 47-style Europa body. Looked and sounded incredible. Might be expensive though...

HMMMMMMMMMMMM

This already looks like its going to be too expensive to consider trying!
With the prices on the web site, ill have to sell the TIV before the wife lets me have another 'plastic car' to play with.
I think ill have to leave it there unless you guys know of someone who might be interested.

In all honesty it isn't worth very much at all. 500 notes perhaps for the log book for someone already doing a rebuild. The shell will cost an awful lot to strip and re gel coat. The running gear. chassis etc another small fortune for a car that at best will be worth 10K. The only way that it is viable is if you hace lots of room and time to spare to build everything yourself. ( I have a JPS Europa, a plus 2 and an elan sprint all in various stages of rebuild/running plus a running modern Elise S/C).
