The Lotus Endorsed warranty covers electrical amd mechanical items against 'breakdown'.

The 'kangarooing' my car was experiencing whilst on the move was apparently caused by a loose connection in the wiring loom. They couldn't fin where exactly and said the only way to cure it would be a new wiring loom. They said because it was electrical I wouldn;t be able to have it done under the warranty. But surely the wiring loom has broken down? How can I get them to accept this or should I just have it done and refuse to pay? Has anyone else had difficulty getting work done under the warranty?

Sounds like a fob-off. Wiring loom faults are very rare; more likely a connector is just not pushed together fully.

Who are the 'They'? I was fobbed off for ages over a warranty repair by a dealer, but the problem got resolved straight away and at no cost to me when I contacted the factory directly.

they are the dealer - interesting point - what is the relevant number at the factory - a phonecall awaits...

Why are dealers so anti-warranty - if its non-warranty I pay, if its a warranty job, a warranty company pays. Surely the garage doesn't care where its money comes from?

Not sure what the arrangement between factory and dealer is, but I bet the dealer earns less for warranty fixes than retail work.

It was Dave Minter (now left) who helped me out, but according to web site:

Email: customerservices@lotuscars.co.uk
Tel: 01953 608844

If no luck drop me a note through my profile and I'll dig out a real person's name.

Have been told by a few dealers, non Lotus dealers, that repairs under warranty are the responsibility of the dealer, the cost comes out of the dealers profit margin. Unless of course the buggy is a DOA.

Certainly not true in Lotus Approved warranty.... Claims have a small impact on most warranties in relation to whats called the 'burn rate' ie if you have a high number of claims there is a small loading or a low number of claims a small reduction in policy cost (stops dealers trying to shaft the warranty co I surpose!)
