Hello everyone,

Another new person here, just wanted to say hello, I've been reading these forums (particularly the lotus ones) for a while now and haven't had much to contribute... til now. My save-all-my-money-to-buy-my-first-lotus scheme is under way so I'm going to have some questions in the future (none of them will be 'how many wheels does a car have?' or 5 pages of 'The S series has a rover engine, no it has a toyota engine, oh wait no it has both, only in pink' because I am able to read the past threads, so i'll contribute if I can too smile

Hello, nice to meet you. The Lotus forums are a bit dead recently, partly because I think more Lotus owners are in their respective sites such as Lotusespritworld.com and the such.

So what Lotus are you after? Esprit, Elise, Evora?

Well I'd like one of each ideally smile. But its an elise I'm after.

Hopefully going for a second hand toyota engine s2 when I do, although still a lot of saving to be done.
Is this a good time to mention I've never driven a lotus, lol. I plan on doing an experience day thing sometime soon to go try an elise and/or exige out. Is there a better way to try one out that anyone knows about?

Get yourself down to a local dealer and explain your situation, even if you are not going to buy straight away - most will be happy to show you the cars. The only danger is you may end up owning one sooner than you thought, there are some attractive finance deals about at the moment if you are brave enough!

Either that or you will come away even more bemused by the range of Elises + varients out there and then start a post on the relative benefits of toyota vs rover!

I will probably go down to the London Lotus dealer near Hyde Park this weekend, are they a good dealer? Can anyone recommend any others round London which would be better?
London Lotus only seem to have new or newer used cars. I've read some posts on here where people say they 'tried out the K series engine and the toyota engine' before buying. Are there some dealers that would have older Elises to try out?

I'll have a browse on the SELOC forums too.

Which side of London do you live?

I can definitely recommend Bell & Colvill just outside the M25 near Leatherhead. They always have a good stock of pre-owned cars of various ages and are a helpful bunch of people. Give them a ring first to let them know you a potential buyer and not just a lotus voyeur!

These guys are not a million miles from you.
Ask for Paul Parkinson, he seems very enthusiastic.
