Elans...... Show yourself!
Discussion
I have owned two Elans since 1991, and recently found a lovely example with only 9,000 miles! now up to 17,000 since I use it as a daily driver.
Its a great balance to the other road toys, love the handling, and its still a very quick A to B road car.
You can't knock it...apart from the cost to Lotus of manufacturing it...
Even now, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a car that can match it for its abilities.

Good to hear statside feedback, I was living out in LA (for all my sins) for a few years recently, and met up with a few Elan owners out there. Interesting to see the US spec car, with 17" wheels, slightly modified front dams and rear bumper areas?
Love the Elan, after driving the Viper all week, its still nice getting in the Elan and hairing around some country lanes into work...

Hi, my wife and I have S2 no 779, which was the last new Elan sold by Bell & Colvill. Other than a major suspension failure early on in its life it been a great little car. Used by my wife as a daily driver for the first three years of its life and then used in the summer only from then on. I have done numerous track days with it over the years, and with its AP brakes, Hayward and Scott 2 1/2" "cat to back" exhaust, it seems to be able to run comfortably with elises around high speed circuits like Goodwood, but its no match for them at "mickey mouse" places like Hethal !
