Well for me the Climax Elite from 1959-1962 will forever be the greatest road car from lotus. It was truly groundbreaking in its time and is one of the most stunningly beautiful cars of all time....There are a couple for sale on this site if you are unsure what they are... take a look wonderful cars

That makes it the most successful commercially: nowt to do with the 'best' (still a bloody good car though!).A further thought on my comment about the commercially most successful Lotus: would that honour go to the Seven and its varients? (Not sure on numbers).
