Hiring an Elise S1 for the day
Discussion
Hi.
Posted this in 'General Gassing' a couple of weeks back but didn't get much of a response.
Wondered if anyone in here knew of anywhere...
My dad has just finished paying his mortgage and has decided to start thinking about buying a classic or sports car.
He says he fancies an early Lotus Elise or VX220.
I'm not 100% sure he'll be able to get in or out of one these too easily tho!
He dosn't really want to be pestering dealers for test drives but my dad would like to spend a little time with one of the cars.
As his 60th birthday is approaching, I would like to hire him one for the day as a present (or even a track day but I guess hiring one for a day on the road would make more sense?)
Anyone know or could reccomend anywhere.
We are in Manchester & the Midlands.
Many Thanks.

£175 for 24hrs in an Elise S seems pretty good value. The guy on the phone was really helpful too.http://www.lambogenie.co.uk/
Cheers bud
It's a minor point, but if your dad is getting on a bit and is not as agile as he used to be, the VX220 is the better car out of the two suggested, because the chassis sill rails are cut down to give a deeper door opening. The S2 Elise also has cut-down sills.
Getting in and out of an S1 Elise with the hood up is akin to climbing through a letter box!

Pesky, see you at Oulton on the 28th
Look forward to it, JayGot anymore carbon fibre bits recently?
Got a few uprgades on the go or should i say part upgrades as i can`t afford to complete them this year.
Turbo kit coming from the USA, so i can fit a Garrett Turbo next year. Good for 300 BHP, but i`ll be happy with 240 to 260 as it`s difficult to get grip as it is.
Rear hub conversion so i can fit bigger rear brakes in the future.
Got someone looking at the suspension side off things, ie stiffer shorter springs as my set up at the mo is pants
Actually the car is off the road at the mo,
Fitted a new Roll Over hoops as these were design by someone who is involved with race/rally cars so they should be up to the job if anything should go wrong. Also fitted a new PAS rack but i`m awaiting for new pipes/hoses to be made up.
Found out that i`ve got the wrong size pistons on my front wilwood calipers hence why i`ve suffered the soft & long pedal, so i`ve gone for a complete new front upgrade which should come this week so i can get them fitted for Oulton
I`m going to be a little nervous at Oulton as i`ve not done a trackday since march and the last time i did Oulton in my own car was Jan 2007 so it`ll take me a bit to get warmed up
BTW i see LoT have got another Oulton date early next year
See you at Oulton and have a good chat to catch up on things

Are you bringing the "Squealer" to Oulton?
Does the "Squealer" by any chance refer to someone I know with a need for some Grecian 2000? If so look out for the .Hope you get it all back together in time, Monty. Have fun.
Yep there`s no mistaking who that would be lol
Pesky,
No Dico won`t make it this time since the trackday is on a tuesday, anyways at least i`ll be able to concentrate But he`ll make the one in Feb since it`ll be on a Saturday
Anyways think were goin a tad off topic lol
Hope Parabola`s Dad has a great time on what ever he chooses to do
