Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, but I've just failed an emissions test for my MOT. It has only failed the CO sections and rather than leave it to my local garage who isn't a lotus dealer try and fix it wondered if anyone would know which bit I could look at first.

I failed with 0.77 %vol on CO fast idle pass is 0.3 and failed on natural idle as well which is a pass of 0.5% and the car was 0.66%.

The car is an S reg series 1 with 100k miles. Just need direction as I can't afford guess work for the local spanner who has taken a large breath and said it could be many things.

Regards

without the other two figures, it's impossible to say what the problem could be...

  • IF* the lambda reading is in the pass range (0.97-1.03) then I would suggest the CAT is not working, it's either too cold or died.
that said, if the CO is that far out, I am supprised the HC is also not out of range...
