Well this is an odd question,

nearly presuaded the missus to let me get an elise as our next car,

i want a nice nippy sports car, and the deal is i can have one as long as fuel economy isn't too bad.

so the elise is ok there.

other one is that it needs to be able to have a roof rack attached as we both love ski'ing (well i love snowboarding)

and i doubt they would fit in the boot,

i know its a slightly odd question but, can you get a roof rack for an elise, either s1 or s2?

Don't know about a 'roof' rack, but you can get the 'boot' rack, which is stainless steel and is set suitably high enough to allow engine cooling. I would imagine that you'll easily be able to attach some skis/snowboards to that, no problem.

Yes (I believe so) - there is a roofrack which fits the Elise hardtop - you need to get the roof rack that was designed for the Ford Fiesta Mark 5, and I believe it fits straight onto the hard top (and from memory the Peugeot 205 roof racks fit also, but not as well...)

I used to have an Elise and always fancied a way of taking mountain bikes on hols - damn practical cars, the Elises.

It's worth trying one first, I guess, as although I was given this advice I never followed up so haven't tested that this really does fit...

The MK 5 fiesta roof bars from Halfrauds work fine on an Elise S1 hardtop. I would suggest putting some sort of tape on the edges of the roof to prevent chips though. I did this years ago, then followed by Cai on his Elise. Works fine for skis or any attachment that will fit on the roof bars.

Why drive a Van when you can do the Job in a Esprit! Practical and Fast!

I don't think we'll be buying a roof rack for ours though.....

Buy some ski boards, 1m long go everywhere a board will & will probably fit in your boot too.

you need beers to use "1m big feet"...either that or have thighs like Lindfords!!

Lethal things.....must be kept on the edge all the time which unless you are very "ski fit" is easier said than done.. mine usually stay firmly in the locker until the middle of the season and I ski every day duringthe winter and cycle every day during the summer!!

As for the OPs question...take the roof off and have them poking our the top...saw a Caterham doing the rounds last season.....great fun even if it was going sideways most of the time!!

S1 only I think. The S2 boot isn't strong enough...
