Isn't the VXR brand supposed to be the new big thing in the Vauxhall range! if not vauxhall on which brand could Lotus work their magic! Since the Carlton days, almost all the car makers (except for the French) have developed a top of the line, top of the range and top spec more or less iconic brand:

Vauxhall VXR / Opel OPC
Audi Quattro and now S-line
BMW M
Mercedes AMG Black Series
Jaguar Supercharged R
Cadillac V Spec
Fiat Abarth
Alfa GTA
Toyota has Lexus
Honda has R and Acura
Nissan has Infinty
Ford has RS
Volvo had R (at the moment inactive)

So who is left: VW, Lancia, Saab, Skoda, Seat... I don't see Lotus working with these (Saab excepted)

Fantastic shots of Tiff doing what he does best. Who needs Clarkson et al when you've got blokes like this to present motoring programs/magazines ? One of my all time heroes but wouldn't let him loose in my LC (no. 938d) as would surely break something expensive !

I had heard that Ford had teamed up with Lotus to create a new super saloon, in the style of the Cortina, I haven't heard about anything with Vauxhall though, but its not out of reach, but a 2.8 v6 with turbo's, sounds suspicously like a Vectra VXR

personally I think the Insignia is one of the worst looking modern cars out there, the front of an Avensis with the Back of a Hyundai Coupe'?

Excellent post history meridian - over 8 years of service, less than 40 posts. hehe That's less than 5 posts a year!

Care to post any more about your Carlton for us? Maybe even some more info and pics in Reader's Rides section perhaps? Always love hearing about these ultimate Q-cars scratchchin
Think I've seen you about at Gatwick Airport once or twice - well, can't be that many of them around surely!

Lets be honest, the Carlton (in standard, Vauxhall form at least) was hardly a work of art.

it was one hell of a sleeper, and it looks better than the Insignia ever will

oh dear, my inability to read posts fully has put me down

I retract my previous statement

The Vauxhall Carlton is bad looking...Lotus is Good Looking!
