well they shouldn't be date stamped. So if the side walls aren't cracked and they have been stored well there shouldn't be a problem with using them.

i would've thought if they are in bad condition they should be fine. fit one. get it up to pressure and then leak test it check for cracks and then you see if it balances ok. if it passes all that, happy motoring driving
HTH,

p.s. if you still have a worry about it try a few different tyre suppliers and see what they say.

the problem is that tyres , as brakes, are some safety features on your car.

i personally wouldnt fit such old tyres on my car.

definitaly sure is that they will no react on the road like a new one...and therefore it would not make as much fun to drive with the car as you could have.

also think about the fact that there are also other people driving on the road. if you hurt yourself and / or your car thats one thing. if you crash into another car and insure or kill somebody else thats another ting.

I bought two of the last NCT 235 60 15s for my Esprit back in the late '90s. Stored them in the gge. Had them put on the car in 2006. Have been fine since and worked OK for two track days so far as well as 5000 road miles. Not as sticky as "modern" tyres, but still THE tyre to have on the car. Shame Goodyear wont do a rerun on the right size for the G-cars.

The esprit was designed around these tyres.my dad asked them too put another order in but lotus are too slow on feed back from engineers working there, too many mangers bla? bla? bla? + rear camber eccentric control system as chassis tolerance +/- 10 mm corner too corner.he has it on his esprit s3 <high comp> first one with it, tested at mira 150+mph

You have an expensive Esprit and your considering skimping on one of the most important parts? If they are older than 6 yrs and exposed to some elements they probably have gone off hard and skiddy. For your sake and the cars just get some new rubber and be done with it. Peace of mind. smile
