I've got one for just over 3 months now. Have never seen another one on the road so far (in fact I have never seen another one since the launch, apart from at the dealers). Everybody I have spoken to say the same. I'm really happy about the rarity, and that's one of the reason I bought her. Hope it stays this way. And of course it a fantactic car to me. Love her to bits.

I think total production was around 9,900. No idea how many are still on the road though.

I've seen one or two on the roads and quite fancy buying one myself - does someone who's 6'5 have a hope of getting in one?

Not sure if this helps, but:
Headroom = 39"
Max pedal to seatback = 40" (S1 & S2), 42" (Twincam & Special)

Thanks. I reckon I'm about 42" seat to top of head, even leaning back a bit that doesn't look hopeful.

I think Jack is refering to the new Europa S, not the classic?

I saw a black one 2 weeks ago on in the London area and a Silver one the next day on the A14. Saw a Silver one at Brands last year and 2 at the factory (customers cars) at the open day.

Still rare in comparison to the Elise though. I love what they've done to it just recently. I agree with Blackrex above and would have one if I sold my Esprit, due to it's rarity and sheer driving comfort over longer distances (I drove one for 300 miles last year).

lets face it, Elises have been around for 12 years now, well ove 20K produced and its not as if you see dowzens everyday...they are not like the most common car in the Uk after all - thats the 3 series Beemerwink ....so youve no chance of seeing a Europa......maybe in a few years you might see one.

I have one - and love it. But again, apart from the ones I viewed in dealers I have yet to see another!

I never thought that they'd be this rare,so I'm still getting used to people pointing at it!

I never saw one on the road until I bought mine earlier this year.

Since then I've seen one Europa, on the way to the rail station - but unfortunately in my other car, so couldnt flash.

Not seen another one since.

To be honest they can be a liability on the road, as overtaking cars usually slow down and travel at the same speed to see what it is - always a dangerous thing on a dual carriageway as it means I have to brake to overtake legally....

I wonder how many RHD ones have been made - I seem to remember Lotus original announcement said 500 a year for 3 years - or something like that.

Drove mine to work the other day, and in spite of badges all over saying LOTUS, people still asked me what it is....

Cheers
Rog

I spotted one for the first time on Friday evening travelling northbound on the A51 in cheshire. I have seen another one - but it was at a lotus specialist in newmarket - not actually on the road.

If you're referring to the Europa S/SE, i would say the Europa SE is a step in the right direction looks wise. I saw the pictures of the launch SE in white and thought it looked rather tasty. My only grumble with the SE now is the rear lights still don't look right, other than that its a pretty car now with the newer wheels and relevant tweaks, shame that wasn't the first incarnation.

The classic one on the other end, is just a brute, i wouldn't mind the later version with the modern features, The Banks Europa?? Always been curious as to what they're like. I always remember a Black Special Edition overtaking me like i was in reverse, he just pulled out and gunned it and i was shocked as to how quick it was, but then i'd never really seen one close up as they were rare even back in the 80's and 90's.

Having only had the 71 europa for a couple of months it is early days but so far it is great, it is very comfortable, drives very well it generally is a pleasent experience either pottering along or pushing her on, the fuel economy is great ,puts the fun back into driving a classic. maybe I was lucky with this europa !! There are a couple of oil leaks that will need sorting but so far its great. better than the healey 1006 I had for 10 years before this.

Note to Lotus ^^^^^ see the havoc that is caused by re-using the same old names every few decades!
