I'm about to buy my first Elise (late S1). It will be kept on my drive and for the next 6 months or so be my only form of transport. Do I need a hardtop? If I do this limits my choice of cars.

If security isn't an issue then soft top will be OK. You also get the pleasure of running wiht the roof off on those Winter days when the sun shines.

And as it's an S1 you're getting you can have the pleasure of taking the rear window out when it's cold: The engine heat will keep you warm and you'll hear the exhaust & induction better. Sweet.

You don't NEED a hardtop at all, so don't worry about it (says the man with a hardtop on the car in profile pic...)
