How many of the Usual Suspects have you tried:
  • Ebay (try contacting sellers of other items who are obviously breaking a car)
  • Wanted ad on LotusElan.net
  • Wanted ad in Club Lotus news
  • Sue Miller
  • Miles Wilkins
  • Spyder Engineering
  • Paul Matty
  • Kelvedon Motors
  • Tony Thompson
  • Annual Club Lotus fair at Donington (you've just missed this yearssmile)
  • Annual Club Lotus Parts fair at Stoneleigh in November
  • Autojumbles
Failing the above, I'v managed to obtain some very rare Elan bits from Sports Car World in America, when no-one else has been able to help.

Nathaniel, make sure you do get an early one if you go for a second hand unit, ensure it's the type with the external boot release handle, on the later cars they dont have an external handle, just a cable release in the drivers B pillar/door shut. The two mechanisms are different. Try to get all of the upper steel work that the latch mounts to as there seem to be a couple of variations in the parts list pictures (from memory as I've mislaid my books!!)

Good luck in your search

Sorry , had brain fade there, the internal release was introduced in '68! same applies regarding the tinwork though, there a couple of different set ups, but the latch itself is the same regardless.

This is a good list for a "newbie". Cheers.
Anyone have an Elan near Bromley?

Best bet is to join lotuselan.net, theres a couple of Elan owners down that way... Si130 for one..(He's got 2 and an Esprit, all off the road rage)

http://www.lotusbits.com/ is worth a try too. They specialise in 9xx series engined cars, but seem to have some Elan +2 parts at the moment too.
