Exige S1 or S2?

Been listening to the arguments on the other thread and don't want to get embroiled in it so I thought I'd start a new one.

I had convinced myself to go look for a recent Exige S, something with the super sport pack, perhaps a 240R.

This will be mostly for track days but needs to be road legal and something I can give to a garage to fettle.

However, am I right in thinking a well sorted Exige S1 is a quicker (and obviously therefore better) bet? If so, why?
